Draft Grade — Giants

FutureA+
Larceny in the Round 3 slot lands the Giants a A-, Cooper Jr. and all. The Giants ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
The Cooper Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Taaffe pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 22 they get a green-dot type in the middle, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick52
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at pick No. 52 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Elijah Sarratt
No drama and no debate, Elijah Sarratt went about where he belonged in No. 74. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick84
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at slot 84 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
They did well to land Tacario Davis in the 105th pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at Round 4, Pick 9 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
Jalon Kilgore at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick143
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
They paid sticker price for DeMonte Capehart in slot 143, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick184
Rnd6
Aamil Wagner
They barely believed it either: Aamil Wagner still on the board at Round 6, Pick 5. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick190
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Good price on Taylen Green in the 190th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick191
Rnd6
Red Murdock
A reasonable price with a little left over, Red Murdock in No. 191. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
