Draft Grade — Eagles

FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Eagles for Shough: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Tyler Shough slide 34 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They are betting Robinson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick64
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas slipping to Round 2, Pick 32 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick96
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Good price on Charles Grant in slot 96, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Fair-plus on Tez Johnson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick123
Rnd4
Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson is a better player than the 123rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick127
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
A conviction pick on Hollin Pierce at No. 127 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
Value said wait; Jackson Slater in pick 132 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tyler Shough
Circle this one: Tyler Shough at pick No. 134 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick156
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
The board had Malachi Moore higher than Round 5, Pick 18, and the safety fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Pick161
Rnd5
Que Robinson
A big swing on Que Robinson at the 161st pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick164
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tommi Hill. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick165
Rnd5
CJ West
CJ West in No. 165 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick168
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Vernon Broughton in pick No. 168, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick169
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
They left a pile of value on the table to take Oronde Gadsden II this early at the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick180
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 180 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick206
Rnd6
Desmond Watson
A wild overpay on Desmond Watson in the 206th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
