Draft Grade — Eagles

FutureB-
The phones sank the Eagles this weekend: D-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Dominic Zvada, 40 picks early at No. 201.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Taaffe falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a red-zone target to build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Value with a capital V on Emmanuel Pregnon in No. 54, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick63
Rnd2
Keith Abney II
Steal is underselling it; Keith Abney II at the 63rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
A safety of that caliber at slot 68 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick98
Rnd3
Caden Curry
They paid up for Caden Curry at pick 98 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick108
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
A premium they did not need to pay, Bryce Lance a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
Chris McClellan in pick 122 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick131
Rnd4
Skyler Gill-Howard
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Skyler Gill-Howard. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137
Rnd4
Kyle Louis
They jumped the gun on Kyle Louis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick151
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
They paid a round early for Aamil Wagner in pick No. 151, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick168
Rnd5
Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III in the 168th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick179
Rnd5
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at the 179th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick201
Rnd6
Dominic Zvada
A big swing on Dominic Zvada at slot 201, well ahead of any board in the building. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick246
Rnd7
Micah Morris
They liked Micah Morris enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 7 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
