Larceny in slot 89 lands the Packers a B, Lew and all. You build a draft on nights like this. Connor Lew had no business being available in the Round 3 slot, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Taylor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick59
Rnd2
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II slipping to No. 59 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick89
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Taking Connor Lew in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
A reach for Chris McClellan in the 120th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick130
Rnd4
Joe Royer
A slide stopped in pick No. 130, with Joe Royer worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick158
Rnd5
Jude Bowry
They let Jude Bowry come to them and pounced at the 158th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick165
Rnd5
Demond Claiborne
A tidy bit of business in slot 165, where Demond Claiborne graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick199
Rnd6
Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa at pick 199 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick236
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
They barely believed it either: Thaddeus Dixon still on the board at Round 7, Pick 20. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick243
Rnd7
Fa'alili Fa'amoe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Fa'alili Fa'amoe. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick254
Rnd7
Logan Taylor
The board had cheaper options than Logan Taylor at the 254th pick, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
Jalon Daniels in Round 7, Pick 39 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick257
Rnd7
Vinny Anthony II
Nothing to complain about; Vinny Anthony II went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
