Vacaciones DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B-
ValueB-

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers. Priorities are a choice, and the Steelers made a strange one, taking Ar'maj Reed-Adams at offensive lineman in the Round 4 slot with quarterback and linebacker crying out for the pick instead.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. World has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Getting Wheatley where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In slot 21 they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Lee Hunter
They paid sticker price for Lee Hunter in Round 2, Pick 21, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jake Golday
Jake Golday slid further than he should have, and the 76th pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick85
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Julian Neal is a better player than pick No. 85 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick99
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Zakee Wheatley in the 99th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick121
Rnd4
Isaiah World
Isaiah World at pick 121 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick135
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Ar'maj Reed-Adams in slot 135 leaves quarterback and linebacker for later.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
A straight-up fair deal on Jalen Farmer at No. 159, value and slot in agreement. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick213
Rnd6
Dane Key
No edge and no loss on Dane Key in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick214
Rnd6
Kaelon Black
Kaelon Black in pick 214 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick224
Rnd7
Miles Kitselman
Fair-plus on Miles Kitselman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick237
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 21, with Zavion Thomas worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
