Draft Grade — Rams
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Rams landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Riley Mahlman at the Round 2 slot is 174 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

Getting Cuevas where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Spending an early pick on cornerback with wide receiver, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

If Mansoor Delane and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In No. 13 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
Pick29 Rnd1 Caleb Banks
In slot 29 they get a wrecking ball inside, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Riley Mahlman
They reached a country mile for Riley Mahlman at pick 61, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick93 Rnd3 Hezekiah Masses
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Hezekiah Masses adds a cornerback and leaves wide receiver, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick167 Rnd5 Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer is a better player than pick No. 167 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick205 Rnd6 Fred Davis II
Fred Davis II at the 205th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick208 Rnd6 Malik Spencer
Value said wait; Malik Spencer in slot 208 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232 Rnd7 Josh Cuevas
Steal is underselling it; Josh Cuevas at No. 232 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick250 Rnd7 Raheem Anderson II
They talked themselves into Raheem Anderson II at pick No. 250, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick256 Rnd7 Madden Sanker
Madden Sanker at pick 256 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
