Draft Grade — Saints
Overall C
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Saints got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C.

Somebody took the Saints to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

Boettcher has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They banked enough surplus on Moore to cover a lot of smaller sins.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In slot 8 they get a lead back with juice. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at pick 42 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick73 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange in Round 3, Pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick112 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Good price on Caden Curry in No. 112, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Pick136 Rnd4 Hezekiah Masses
They read the board right and Hezekiah Masses was the payoff at the 136th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick148 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
Value said wait; Bryce Boettcher in the 148th overall pick says they were not listening. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick150 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Domani Jackson in pick No. 150. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick161 Rnd5 Louis Moore
The board had Louis Moore higher than Round 5, Pick 23, and the safety fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick170 Rnd5 Lander Barton
They jumped the gun on Lander Barton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick177 Rnd5 Marlin Klein
Nothing to complain about; Marlin Klein went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick188 Rnd6 Toriano Pride Jr.
Toriano Pride Jr. at No. 188 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
