FutureA
The Vikings let Price fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-. The real work happened on the phones. The Vikings fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Price where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Christian Gonzalez pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Bottom line, with Dillon Thieneman leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick49
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Nice patience on Dillon Thieneman, who had no business lasting to the 49th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price at Round 3, Pick 18 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in the 97th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick161
Rnd5
Kaleb Proctor
Kaleb Proctor in pick No. 161 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Dae'Quan Wright
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Dae'Quan Wright in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick234
Rnd7
Vinny Anthony II
They did well to land Vinny Anthony II in No. 234, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick240
Rnd7
Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona in pick No. 240 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
