Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Saints, and a B- to prove it.

The Saints' one glaring miss is interior defensive lineman, a need they left exactly as they found it.

If Lutmer pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jordan Seaton
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Zach Lutmer
Zach Lutmer in pick 42 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick73 Rnd3 Joe Otting
A straight-up fair deal on Joe Otting at Round 3, Pick 9, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick132 Rnd4 Eugene Wilson III
Eugene Wilson III in the 132nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick136 Rnd4 Elijah Rushing
A clean, defensible pick in the 136th pick with a little surplus value in Elijah Rushing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148 Rnd5 Luke Reynolds
They paid sticker price for Luke Reynolds in slot 148, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick170 Rnd5 Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor at pick No. 170 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick188 Rnd6 Malachi Nelson
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Nelson at No. 188 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
