The Broncos did enough to get by: C+. The Eli Stowers selection is the head-turner. The Broncos reached 27 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
They banked enough surplus on Jackson to cover a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In slot 16 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at pick No. 51 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick87
Rnd3
Drew Shelton
Drew Shelton at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick122
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
A slide stopped in No. 122, with Domani Jackson worth more than the price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick160
Rnd5
Zane Durant
They paid sticker price for Zane Durant in Round 5, Pick 21, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick237
Rnd7
Brandon Inniss
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brandon Inniss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jack Velling
The board had cheaper options than Jack Velling at pick 255, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
