There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Falcons started one anyway for Jacob Rodriguez, 122 picks ahead of schedule.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Jackson Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
