Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC
The Seahawks lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

The Seahawks lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

With edge rusher, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. The cost of the Everette reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Slaughter pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In No. 28 they get a sticky cover corner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick38 Rnd2 CJ Allen
No drama and no debate, CJ Allen went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick47 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
No edge and no loss on Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 15; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Nice patience on Jake Slaughter, who had no business lasting to pick 64. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick72 Rnd3 Daylen Everette
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Daylen Everette adds a cornerback and leaves edge rusher, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick91 Rnd3 Zachariah Branch
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zachariah Branch well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick110 Rnd4 Trinidad Chambliss
A straight-up fair deal on Trinidad Chambliss at slot 110, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144 Rnd5 Sam Roush
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sam Roush. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick211 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in pick No. 211 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
