The Eagles let McNeil-Warren fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Emmanuel McNeil-Warren got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at the 119th pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The cost of the Iheanachor reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Max Iheanachor
In slot 23 they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in the 54th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick68
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Eli Stowers at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick98
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew at Round 3, Pick 34 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick114
Rnd4
Ted Hurst
You do not let a wide receiver like Ted Hurst reach the 114th overall pick and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick119
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They robbed the room for Emmanuel McNeil-Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137
Rnd4
Drew Allar
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drew Allar in No. 137, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick178
Rnd5
Charles Demmings
Circle this one: Charles Demmings at pick No. 178 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
