Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB FutureA
The Saints did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

Nobody had Trey Moore this high, and it is not close. The Saints reached 89 spots to get him at slot 95. No fireworks, but a solid B.

Getting Coleman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Milton Williams gives the group a proven body among the projects.

The trade work was a quiet net positive.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In the 31st pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, and a steal at that.
Pick42 Rnd2 Akheem Mesidor
A real head-scratcher, Akheem Mesidor in pick No. 42 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jonah Coleman
A running back of that caliber at the 63rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick73 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy slipping to pick 73 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick95 Rnd3 Trey Moore
Trey Moore in Round 3, Pick 31 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick131 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
The board had Keylan Rutledge higher than slot 131, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick132 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
They went early on Domani Jackson in Round 4, Pick 32, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick136 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
No drama and no debate, DeMonte Capehart went about where he belonged in the 136th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick148 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
The board had cheaper options than DJ Campbell at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170 Rnd5 Gracen Halton
They took Gracen Halton at par in pick 170, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick188 Rnd6 Noah Thomas
Value said wait; Noah Thomas in No. 188 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
