Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

The Cardinals let Mateer fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cardinals were there to profit. John Mateer, the No. 76 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 106th overall pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
In the 5th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kayden McDonald in the 36th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick67
Rnd3
Rod Moore
Good price on Rod Moore in pick No. 67, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick106
Rnd4
John Mateer
Circle this one: John Mateer at slot 106 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick144
Rnd5
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in pick 144 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
