Draft Grade — Bengals

A solid, sensible weekend for the Bengals: B-.

There is a lot to like until you notice cornerback is still a hole. The Bengals never got to the one that mattered most. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Reaching for Jackson Jr. left real value on the table behind him. Getting Sabb where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In pick No. 9 they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Pick40 Rnd2 Darrell Jackson Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Darrell Jackson Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick73 Rnd3 Ian Strong
Ian Strong in pick 73 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick108 Rnd4 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
