Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Johnson should have been long gone. The Vikings pounced, and earned a D-.

Somebody took the Vikings to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

If Brailsford pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Johnson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In pick 18 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value.
Pick49 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Value with a capital V on Dillon Thieneman in the 49th overall pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick60 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter in No. 60 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
They jumped the gun on Jacob Rodriguez, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick97 Rnd3 Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford in the 97th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick108 Rnd4 Emmett Johnson
They robbed the room for Emmett Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick126 Rnd4 Kage Casey
Kage Casey at slot 126 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175 Rnd5 Eric McAlister
Nothing to complain about; Eric McAlister went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick206 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Good price on Trey Zuhn III in Round 6, Pick 27, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick234 Rnd7 Luke Hasz
Luke Hasz in the Round 7 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick240 Rnd7 Haynes King
Haynes King in pick No. 240 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
