FutureB-
The Rams let Coleman Jr. fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Hard to follow the map here. The Rams bypassed running back, tight end and other spots to take Devin Moore at slot 93, a spot they had covered. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Coleman Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In No. 13 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. More want than need.
Pick29
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In pick No. 29 they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Blake Miller
They paid sticker price for Blake Miller in pick 63, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93
Rnd3
Devin Moore
They bypassed pressing needs at running back, tight end and other spots to take Devin Moore, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jakobe Thomas
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jakobe Thomas. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick167
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Taking Kevin Coleman Jr. in the 167th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick169
Rnd5
Bryce Boettcher
Bryce Boettcher at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jadon Canady
They did well to land Jadon Canady in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick208
Rnd6
Diego Pavia
A conviction pick on Diego Pavia at pick 208 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick232
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at slot 232 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick250
Rnd7
Barion Brown
The board had Barion Brown higher than the 250th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256
Rnd7
Keyron Crawford
A straight-up fair deal on Keyron Crawford at the 256th pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
