Draft Grade — Vikings

McNeil-Warren should have been long gone. The Vikings pounced, and earned a C-. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Vikings, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. For now it grades a C-, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McNeil-Warren. The cost of the Hall reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
If Jeremiyah Love and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the 18th overall pick they get a featured back at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick49
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in No. 49 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick82
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew slipping to slot 82 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91
Rnd3
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick 91, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
A reach for D'Angelo Ponds in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick161
Rnd5
Eric McAlister
The board had cheaper options than Eric McAlister at the 161st pick, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick166
Rnd5
Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III in No. 166 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194
Rnd6
Miller Moss
A slide stopped in pick No. 194, with Miller Moss worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
A reach on Jordan Hall in slot 234; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
