Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Patriots a B-.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Patriots took Eric O'Neill at the 207th overall pick, roughly 55 spots before his name belonged.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Igbinosun to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Akheem Mesidor
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a disruptor off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Omar Cooper Jr.
They read the board right and Omar Cooper Jr. was the payoff at pick No. 63. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick95 Rnd3 Genesis Smith
Genesis Smith in slot 95 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick125 Rnd4 Isaiah World
Isaiah World at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick131 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Davison Igbinosun at No. 131. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick169 Rnd5 Cyrus Allen
A tidy bit of business in pick 169, where Cyrus Allen graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick189 Rnd6 Dae'Quan Wright
Dae'Quan Wright in the 189th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200 Rnd6 Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss at the 200th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick207 Rnd6 Eric O'Neill
This one needs a full-page explanation: Eric O'Neill in pick No. 207, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick210 Rnd6 Keyshaun Elliott
They took Keyshaun Elliott at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick247 Rnd7 Logan Taylor
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Logan Taylor well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
