Lostboyrufio DRAFTING FOR THECommanders
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Commanders: B-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Commanders reached some 55 spots for Patrick Payton, and value like that does not grow back.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, Key at that price is a win they earned. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Keldric Faulk
In the 7th overall pick they get juice off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick71
Rnd3
Brian Parker II
A real head-scratcher, Brian Parker II in pick No. 71 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick145
Rnd5
Nadame Tucker
A wild overpay on Nadame Tucker in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick185
Rnd6
Lander Barton
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Lander Barton. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick196
Rnd6
Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at pick 196 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick223
Rnd7
Dane Key
They let Dane Key come to them and pounced at slot 223. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
