Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Lane steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They are betting Miller proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Blake Miller
They went early on Blake Miller in Round 2, Pick 4, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Josiah Trotter
Nothing to complain about; Josiah Trotter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick102 Rnd4 Chandler Rivers
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chandler Rivers. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117 Rnd4 Ja'Kobi Lane
They read the board right and Ja'Kobi Lane was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick134 Rnd4 Joe Royer
A tidy little value on Joe Royer in No. 134, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Louis Moore
Louis Moore at the 175th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick185 Rnd6 Matt Gulbin
They paid sticker price for Matt Gulbin in pick No. 185, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208 Rnd6 Cameron Ball
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Cameron Ball worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick219 Rnd7 Kaelon Black
Kaelon Black in No. 219 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
