Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB-
TradesC
FutureB
The Dolphins checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Caden Curry, 57 picks early at Round 3, Pick 11. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Anderson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In pick No. 11 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick30
Rnd1
Chris Johnson
In No. 30 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jacob Rodriguez
They paid up for Jacob Rodriguez at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75
Rnd3
Caden Curry
This one needs a full-page explanation: Caden Curry in Round 3, Pick 11, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick87
Rnd3
Tyreak Sapp
A real head-scratcher, Tyreak Sapp in pick 87 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Treydan Stukes
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Treydan Stukes, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick130
Rnd4
Jalen Farmer
Jalen Farmer in pick 130 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick151
Rnd5
Eli Raridon
They let Eli Raridon come to them and pounced at pick No. 151. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207
Rnd6
Jaren Kanak
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaren Kanak this early at No. 207. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick227
Rnd7
Aaron Anderson
Circle this one: Aaron Anderson at the 227th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick238
Rnd7
Chase Roberts
Value with a capital V on Chase Roberts in the Round 7 slot, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
