A costly weekend of dealing drags the Cowboys to a D. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cowboys did exactly that with Dallas Gant in No. 245. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Cowboys indulged a want in Braswell while a need in quarterback and interior defensive lineman stayed open. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
