There is conviction, and then there is this. The Commanders took Dominic Zvada a full 81 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Taaffe steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

The veteran additions, Maxx Crosby chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
