More right than wrong for the 49ers, and a B- to prove it.

Nobody else had Billy Schrauth anywhere near the Round 2 slot. The 49ers did, by 61 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The Lane value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick27 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu

In the 27th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.

Pick58 Rnd2 Billy Schrauth

They talked themselves into Billy Schrauth at pick No. 58, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Pick127 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton

Nicholas Singleton in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
