Draft Grade — Browns
Overall F
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureD
The Traore reach set a tone the Browns could not shake: F.

The Browns looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Boubacar Traore at pick 91 regardless, 40 picks early. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Styles to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick No. 6 they get a rangy last line of defense. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Colton Hood in the 38th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick39 Rnd2 Trevor Goosby
Trevor Goosby in No. 39 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick58 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Circle this one: Sonny Styles at Round 2, Pick 26 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick70 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew slipping to pick 70 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick91 Rnd3 Boubacar Traore
They talked themselves into Boubacar Traore at Round 3, Pick 27, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick106 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
They left a pile of value on the table to take Bryce Lance this early at the 106th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jack Endries
No edge and no loss on Jack Endries in the 107th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick126 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
They liked Keylan Rutledge enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 DJ McKinney
DJ McKinney is a better player than pick 139 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick144 Rnd5 Blake Miller
A tidy bit of business in slot 144, where Blake Miller graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Taylen Green
They let Taylen Green come to them and pounced at pick No. 206. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jordan White
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan White in No. 248, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
