Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureC+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Dolphins for Stowers: B.

The Dolphins did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Eli Stowers fell into slot 90. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

If Moore pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Stukes pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
Pick30 Rnd1 Omar Cooper Jr.
In slot 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38 Rnd2 Zion Young
No drama and no debate, Zion Young went about where he belonged in the 38th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick43 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Derrick Moore. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jacob Rodriguez. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
A quiet steal in No. 75: Keionte Scott for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick87 Rnd3 Treydan Stukes
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Treydan Stukes at cornerback with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open.
Pick90 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers at Round 3, Pick 26 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94 Rnd3 Bryce Lance
Good price on Bryce Lance in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
A clean, defensible pick in the 127th pick with a little surplus value in Bishop Fitzgerald. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick130 Rnd4 Hezekiah Masses
A curious use of the 130th overall pick. Quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Hezekiah Masses did not.
Pick133 Rnd4 Beau Stephens
A real head-scratcher, Beau Stephens in pick 133 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick138 Rnd4 Louis Moore
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Louis Moore adds a safety and leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick151 Rnd5 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at Round 5, Pick 11 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jalen Huskey
They went early on Jalen Huskey in slot 227, and the value did not follow. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick238 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci at pick No. 238 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
