Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA FutureB-
The Steelers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Steelers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Reaching for Wagner left real value on the table behind him. The trade work was a quiet net positive. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick76 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
A clean, defensible pick in the 76th pick with a little surplus value in Ja'Kobi Lane. It fills a real need, too.
Pick85 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zakee Wheatley in slot 85. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick99 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in the 99th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick135 Rnd4 Beau Stephens
A reach on Beau Stephens in pick 135; the board had better options right there. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick150 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at pick No. 150 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick159 Rnd5 Kaleb Proctor
They paid up for Kaleb Proctor at the Round 5 slot when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick213 Rnd6 Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris in No. 213 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jadon Canady
Jadon Canady at pick 214 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick224 Rnd7 Andre Fuller
Andre Fuller at Round 7, Pick 8 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick237 Rnd7 Eli Heidenreich
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eli Heidenreich. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
