Draft Grade — Saints
Overall C-
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB-
Larceny in the 219th overall pick lands the Saints a C-, Green and all.

Somebody in Round 7, Pick 5 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Saints sat still while Taylen Green, the No. 188 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It washes out to a C-, no better and no worse.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Adding Puka Nacua by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a centerfielder for the defense. More want than need.
Pick29 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
No edge and no loss on Anthony Hill Jr. in pick No. 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick40 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks in No. 40 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick69 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard at the 69th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick148 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in pick 148 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick183 Rnd6 Aaron Anderson
Aaron Anderson at slot 183 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219 Rnd7 Taylen Green
Somehow Taylen Green was still sitting there in the 219th overall pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It fills a real need, too.
