Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D-.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Roman Hemby; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 140 spots ahead at pick No. 219. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Igbinosun where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In slot 1 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
They liked Elijah Sarratt enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 1. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick36 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
By-the-book stuff, Emmanuel Pregnon at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at pick 44 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
A tidy bit of business in No. 67, where D'Angelo Ponds graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick102 Rnd4 Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette in the 102nd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Caden Curry in No. 103 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick117 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
They paid sticker price for Keylan Rutledge in the 117th overall pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Taking Davison Igbinosun in pick 174 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick175 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
They reached into another round for Pat Coogan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick180 Rnd6 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell in pick No. 180 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick183 Rnd6 Charles Jagusah
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Charles Jagusah. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick184 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
Value said wait; Bryce Foster in Round 6, Pick 5 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick190 Rnd6 Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein slipping to Round 6, Pick 11 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick191 Rnd6 Lander Barton
A tidy little value on Lander Barton in No. 191, a step better than break-even. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick219 Rnd7 Roman Hemby
Roman Hemby at pick 219 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
