Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a B- weekend for the Raiders.

Start where it matters. The Raiders took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The Iheanachor reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Nwankpa to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In No. 1 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
By-the-book stuff, Emmanuel Pregnon at pick 36 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67 Rnd3 Max Iheanachor
A reach for Max Iheanachor in pick No. 67; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton slipping to Round 4, Pick 2 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick117 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
No edge and no loss on Keylan Rutledge in the 117th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
They paid a round early for Davison Igbinosun in slot 134, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Nwankpa in the 174th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick180 Rnd6 Bud Clark
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bud Clark. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick183 Rnd6 Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson at Round 6, Pick 4 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick219 Rnd7 Dominic Zvada
The board had cheaper options than Dominic Zvada at pick 219, and it noticed. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
