Boss4 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
C+

FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Jaguars: C+. There is reaching, and then there is Omar Speights at pick 116. The Jaguars jumped the board by 199 and dared it to prove them wrong. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing Chambers that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The back end got a real overhaul.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
A reach on T.J. Tampa in pick No. 48; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick96
Rnd3
DJ James
DJ James in Round 3, Pick 33 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114
Rnd4
Tyrone Tracy Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyrone Tracy Jr. a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick116
Rnd4
Omar Speights
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Omar Speights. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick153
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
No edge and no loss on Marist Liufau in the 153rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick167
Rnd5
Tyrice Knight
A wild overpay on Tyrice Knight in slot 167, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick212
Rnd6
Mason Fairchild
Mason Fairchild in the 212th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick236
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
Circle this one: Steele Chambers at No. 236 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
