Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall
D
ValueB-

FutureB+
The phones sank the Chargers this weekend: D. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Chargers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. If Siereveld pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They banked enough surplus on Slaughter to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick36
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Nothing to complain about; Kayden McDonald went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick37
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
They jumped the gun on Olaivavega Ioane, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick51
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter slid further than he should have, and pick No. 51 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick60
Rnd2
Germie Bernard
No drama and no debate, Germie Bernard went about where he belonged in the 60th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick68
Rnd3
Austin Siereveld
They reached into another round for Austin Siereveld, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in No. 83 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick91
Rnd3
Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks in Round 3, Pick 27 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick113
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
A reach on Chase Bisontis in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Pick152
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
A straight-up fair deal on Iapani Laloulu at pick 152, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick157
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
A clean, defensible pick in the 157th pick with a little surplus value in Chase Roberts. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
