Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureC-
The Ravens got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D+.

The Kalil Alexander pick is the one that will follow the Ravens into the fall. They took him 57 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

On value alone, Slaughter makes the weekend a net positive. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at Round 1, Pick 14 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick38 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenyon Sadiq at slot 38 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at the 62nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82 Rnd3 Brian Parker II
Brian Parker II at the 82nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick95 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 95. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick106 Rnd4 Austin Siereveld
The board fumbled Austin Siereveld all the way to pick No. 106, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108 Rnd4 Genesis Smith
A tidy bit of business in No. 108, where Genesis Smith graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick120 Rnd4 Chris Johnson
No edge and no loss on Chris Johnson in pick 120; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick125 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
No drama and no debate, Chase Bisontis went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick152 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey at slot 152 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
They went early on Jacob Rodriguez in pick No. 160, and the value did not follow. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick169 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
The board had cheaper options than Aaron Graves at the 169th pick, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick172 Rnd5 Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor at Round 5, Pick 34 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173 Rnd5 Zane Durant
A big swing on Zane Durant at the 173rd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick208 Rnd6 Kalil Alexander
Kalil Alexander at the 208th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick249 Rnd7 De'Zhaun Stribling
A tidy little value on De'Zhaun Stribling in the Round 7 slot, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Pick251 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh in No. 251 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick252 Rnd7 Kelby Collins
Kelby Collins in Round 7, Pick 36 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
