Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Chiefs a B+.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Chiefs, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Curry pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

On value alone, Haulcy makes the weekend a net positive. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
A tidy little value on Jeremiyah Love in the 9th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick52 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan in the 52nd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick74 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
Taking A.J. Haulcy in slot 74 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick82 Rnd3 Caden Curry
A real head-scratcher, Caden Curry in pick No. 82 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick109 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance in Round 4, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Nothing to complain about; Tacario Davis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick146 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
They took Aaron Graves at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick176 Rnd5 Sawyer Robertson
They paid sticker price for Sawyer Robertson in pick 176, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
