Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB-
The Texans won the night they stopped Price from sliding. Grade: B-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jadarian Price had no business being available in slot 106, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick32 Rnd1 Emmanuel Pregnon
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
Fair-plus on Caleb Tiernan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick69 Rnd3 Mike Washington Jr.
No drama and no debate, Mike Washington Jr. went about where he belonged in the 69th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
Steal is underselling it; Jadarian Price at slot 106 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick109 Rnd4 Connor Lew
Circle this one: Connor Lew at No. 109 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick141 Rnd5 Kaleb Proctor
Kaleb Proctor at pick 141 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick167 Rnd5 Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers at the 167th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A tidy little value on Ar'maj Reed-Adams in the Round 5 slot, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jalen Stroman
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalen Stroman in the 210th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick243 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon in No. 243 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
