Draft Grade — Chargers

FutureB-
The Chargers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. The tape said wait; the Chargers did not. J'Mari Taylor went at slot 86, a good 64 picks before the board was ready. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Tyson. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In slot 22 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
The board had Caleb Banks higher than the 55th pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick86
Rnd3
J'Mari Taylor
A real head-scratcher, J'Mari Taylor in No. 86 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick123
Rnd4
Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens at Round 4, Pick 23 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jerry Wilson
Jerry Wilson in pick 202 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
