Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The jury is out on the Broncos. For now, C+.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Broncos would have aced it. Rara Thomas at slot 255 is 125 spots clear of where he belonged. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. However the rest shakes out, Golday at that price is a win they earned.

So much rides on Emmanuel Pregnon that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Emmanuel Pregnon
In pick 30 they get a cornerstone up front, even if it was a touch early.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jake Slaughter in the Round 2 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Golday at the 94th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jack Endries
The board had Jack Endries higher than pick No. 108, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick130 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
A reach on Domani Jackson in No. 130; the board had better options right there. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick168 Rnd5 Charles Jagusah
They went early on Charles Jagusah in Round 5, Pick 30, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick246 Rnd7 Christian Leary
They left a pile of value on the table to take Christian Leary this early at the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick251 Rnd7 E.J. Williams Jr.
A big swing on E.J. Williams Jr. at slot 251, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick255 Rnd7 Rara Thomas
A wild overpay on Rara Thomas in pick No. 255, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
