JW121110 DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Falcons a B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Falcons did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to offensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Shuler falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Daylen Everette
By-the-book stuff, Daylen Everette at No. 42 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick73
Rnd3
Antonio Williams
Good price on Antonio Williams in the 73rd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick110
Rnd4
Adon Shuler
Adon Shuler slipping to the 110th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick190
Rnd6
Lander Barton
A straight-up fair deal on Lander Barton at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick224
Rnd7
Jahiem White
No edge and no loss on Jahiem White in Round 7, Pick 9; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
