FutureA
A passer of the future in Mendoza, and a B+, for the Jets. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Jets committed. Fernando Mendoza is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
They took Fernando Mendoza at par in the Round 1 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick16
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick49
Rnd2
Keith Abney II
Fair-plus on Keith Abney II, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72
Rnd3
Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams in slot 72 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick103
Rnd4
Taurean York
By-the-book stuff, Taurean York at the 103rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick175
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts slid further than he should have, and No. 175 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick178
Rnd5
J'Mari Taylor
A tidy little value on J'Mari Taylor in the 178th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Pick192
Rnd6
Ephesians Prysock
Nothing to complain about; Ephesians Prysock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick206
Rnd6
Rayshaun Benny
Rayshaun Benny in the 206th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick209
Rnd6
Dalton Johnson
Dalton Johnson at pick No. 209 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick218
Rnd7
Keyshaun Elliott
Keyshaun Elliott at Round 7, Pick 2 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick242
Rnd7
Miller Moss
Value with a capital V on Miller Moss in slot 242, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
