Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Jets spent Round 5, Pick 39 on Patrick Payton, a name most had 84 spots down the list. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

The whole projection now runs through Ty Simpson; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Wheatley where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
