A passer of the future in Mendoza, and a B, for the Jets.

Start where it matters. The Jets took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They will need Mesidor to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Singleton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Fernando Mendoza in pick 2 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick16 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In the 16th pick they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.

They took Anthony Hill Jr. at par in the 33rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

Akheem Mesidor at No. 44 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nicholas Singleton at Round 4, Pick 3. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
Pat Coogan at pick No. 175 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick179 Rnd5 Taylen Green
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Taylen Green graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

They did well to land Thaddeus Dixon in slot 193, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

No edge and no loss on Peyton Bowen in No. 211; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

They paid sticker price for Brett Norfleet in the 218th overall pick, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on London Humphreys. The roster fit checks out.
