Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Saints did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Saints left cornerback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.

Banks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In pick 8 they get a bell-cow for the offense at fair value.
Pick42 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Caleb Banks for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane in pick No. 73 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Fair-plus on Michael Trigg, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137 Rnd4 Tim Keenan III
Tim Keenan III at Round 4, Pick 37 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick149 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis in slot 149 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick171 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
They did well to land DJ Campbell in No. 171, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick189 Rnd6 Dane Key
Nothing to complain about; Dane Key went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
