More right than wrong for the Jaguars, and a B to prove it. Call it larceny. Josiah Trotter sat on the board until Round 3, Pick 17, and the Jaguars did not need to be asked twice. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Lawrence reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Blake Miller
Blake Miller at pick 56 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Josiah Trotter
They will replay Josiah Trotter at slot 81 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jonah Coleman
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 24, where Jonah Coleman graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick100
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. at the 100th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick124
Rnd4
Malachi Lawrence
Malachi Lawrence in No. 124 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick162
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
The board had Kevin Coleman Jr. higher than the 162nd overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jalen Farmer
A tidy little value on Jalen Farmer in pick 164, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233
Rnd7
TJ Hall
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TJ Hall in pick No. 233. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick245
Rnd7
Barion Brown
Barion Brown at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
