Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
C+
ValueC
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens did enough to get by: C+. There is reaching, and then there is Clayton Smith at Round 7, Pick 36. The Ravens jumped the board by 64 and dared it to prove them wrong.
The Hurst pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
If Joshua Josephs and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Joshua Josephs
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher, even if it was a touch early.
Pick45
Rnd2
LT Overton
They liked LT Overton enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 45. It fills a real need, too.
Pick80
Rnd3
Tyreak Sapp
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyreak Sapp. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick115
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A reach for Ar'maj Reed-Adams in the 115th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick152
Rnd5
Aaron Anderson
Aaron Anderson in pick No. 152 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick160
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
They took Aamil Wagner at par in Round 5, Pick 22, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jaydn Ott
They read the board right and Jaydn Ott was the payoff at No. 172. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
The board fumbled Ted Hurst all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick249
Rnd7
Damari Brown
Damari Brown in pick No. 249 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick252
Rnd7
Clayton Smith
Clayton Smith at the 252nd overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
