Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B-
ValueC+

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Falcons let Slaughter fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Falcons watched Jake Slaughter slide 71 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If Branch pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick48
Rnd2
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at the Round 2 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick79
Rnd3
Brandon Cisse
Brandon Cisse in pick 79 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick114
Rnd4
Jake Slaughter
Somehow Jake Slaughter was still sitting there in slot 114, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jamal Haynes
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jamal Haynes well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick231
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
A straight-up fair deal on Ethan O'Connor at Round 7, Pick 15, value and slot in agreement. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
