Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B
ValueA NeedB TradesF FutureA
Simpson is the plan now, and the Dolphins grade out a B.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Dolphins spent their marquee pick on Ty Simpson, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with edge rusher and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Ty Simpson
In pick 29 they get their quarterback of the future at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at Round 2, Pick 11 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick61 Rnd2 Chris Johnson
They barely believed it either: Chris Johnson still on the board at the 61st overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick75 Rnd3 Chris Bell
Chris Bell at the 75th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82 Rnd3 Keith Abney II
A surprising call. With edge rusher and running back still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Keith Abney II, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick87 Rnd3 Caleb Banks
Steal is underselling it; Caleb Banks at pick No. 87 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
A safety of that caliber at slot 90 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick111 Rnd4 Ja'Kobi Lane
Somehow Ja'Kobi Lane was still sitting there in No. 111, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick112 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. slipping to pick 112 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick149 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Ar'maj Reed-Adams in No. 149, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick161 Rnd5 Connor Tollison
Nice patience on Connor Tollison, who had no business lasting to the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick194 Rnd6 Treydan Stukes
They will replay Treydan Stukes at pick No. 194 for years; that is how good the value is. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
