FutureB
The Dolphins cashed the board's mistake on York: B-. You could see the war room lean forward. Taurean York at slot 112 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In slot 20 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
They barely believed it either: Kenyon Sadiq still on the board at pick No. 43. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick44
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
A tidy little value on Olaivavega Ioane in No. 44, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75
Rnd3
Dillon Thieneman
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Dillon Thieneman in Round 3, Pick 11, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick87
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Nice patience on Julian Neal, who had no business lasting to the 87th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick90
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew in the 90th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick111
Rnd4
Caden Curry
They let Caden Curry come to them and pounced at pick 111. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112
Rnd4
Taurean York
Circle this one: Taurean York at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick149
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Drew Allar slid further than he should have, and No. 149 is lovely value for the quarterback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick156
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
A slide stopped in slot 156, with Domani Jackson worth more than the price. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick157
Rnd5
J'Mari Taylor
J'Mari Taylor is a better player than pick 157 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton in pick No. 175 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick192
Rnd6
Sawyer Robertson
A quiet steal in Round 6, Pick 13: Sawyer Robertson for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick215
Rnd6
Dane Key
They will replay Dane Key at the 215th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
