Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Skyler Gill-Howard at the Round 4 slot. The Bengals jumped the board by 23 and dared it to prove them wrong. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

However the rest shakes out, Brazzell II at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Peter Woods
In pick No. 10 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41 Rnd2 Chris Brazzell II
Chris Brazzell II is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick72 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
No edge and no loss on Malik Muhammad in Round 3, Pick 8; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Skyler Gill-Howard
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Skyler Gill-Howard. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick187 Rnd6 Jaren Kanak
Jaren Kanak at the 187th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick197 Rnd6 Fernando Carmona
They talked themselves into Fernando Carmona at pick 197, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick226 Rnd7 Ahmaad Moses
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ahmaad Moses. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
